That which does not kill us makes us stronger~ Friedrich Nietzsche

…Never a truer work spoken in regards to pain!

Unfortunately pain is something that is part of all of our lives, for some it is on a daily basis and if you are lucky it might be a rare occurrence, something as small as a simple headache or stubbing your toe. There are too many people around me suffering from daily pain for my linking and that’s the subject of today’s ramblings. Hopefully it won’t end up being depressing.

I personally love “Wiki’s” description of pain, if only these were the only causes (and what a random selection?!?)

Pain is an unpleasant sensation often caused by intense or damaging stimuli such as stubbing a toe, burning a finger, putting iodine on a cut, and bumping the “funny bone.”

Pain also has different forms; emotional or physical. If you’re being scientific there are lots of other types too:  Nociceptive, Neuropathic, Phantom, Psychogenic, Breakthrough etc. I am sure that everyone would agree that none of these are an enjoyable feeling.

If you are one of the unlucky people who suffer from an on-going pain I wonder how many of you have turned to “Google” for an idea of how to cope? Desperate that there has to be another option, or looking for a cure. I find this is often a result of gaining limited answers from the medical profession (but let’s not go there for now).

But what do you do if there isn’t a medical cure or if there is you are not in favour or happy about your options?? What keeps you going then?

Looking back on a particular painful day for me, I only have one simple answer and that’s LOVE!

There are certain days when the only thing that keeps me smiling is the love from friends and family around me. I do not know where I would be without each and every one of them, so if by chance you one of you is reading this- thank you. In the same way that they help me to get through a bad day, they make me look forward to future days!

On that note I am going to end today’s ramblings.

To finish today’s blog I have a couple of quotes in relation to the topic of Pain and some other quotes that I came across this week that I rather liked. Hope you like them too.

Bye for now xx

Pain — has an Element of Blank — by Emily Dickinson

Pain — has an Element of Blank —
It cannot recollect
When it begun — or if there were
A time when it was not —
It has no Future — but itself —
Its Infinite contain
Its Past — enlightened to perceive
New Periods — of Pain.

 Other Quotes/thoughts from others:

Think of how different it would be if you never met the one person who changed everything.
