A Thought Went Up My Mind To-day ~ Emily Dickinson

It’s been a little while since my last pos, I’ve been busy getting back into work and celebrating my Birthday …I’m getting pretty old now.  Additionally I am awaiting the inspiration to write something that might be remotely interesting.  In the mean time I found two lovely Emily Dickson Poem that I wanted to share..

A Thought went up my mind today (701)
Emily Dickinson

A Thought went up my mind today –
That I have had before –
But did not finish – some way back –
I could not fix the Year –

Nor where it went – nor why it came
The second time to me –
Nor definitely, what it was –
Have I the Art to say –

But somewhere – in my Soul – I know –
I’ve met the Thing before –
It just reminded me – ’twas all –
And came my way no more –

“Hope” is the thing with feathers (254)
Emily Dickinson

“Hope” is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops—at all—

And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—
And sore must be the storm—
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm—

I’ve heard it in the chillest land—
And on the strangest Sea—
Yet, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb—of Me.

Hopefully I will find something to write soon xxx
